Allred & Gordon "Head to Head": Recorded December 6th, 2001 at Lone Pine Studios for Arbors Records. This project was recorded on a Radar hard disc recorder that I brought and interfaced to the Lone Pine Studio. DPA 4041s with a DPA HMA4000 were used on the overheads. DPA compact 4021s were used on Ed Metz Jr. snare and toms. The orginal mic selection For Wycliffe and John's trombones was a pair of Neumann TLM103s but the diaphragms overloaded and smeared so I used a pair of DPA 4004s into a Millenium 130volt preamp. The bass was recorded by taking the pickup direct into the wonderful Summit instrument preamp and with a DPA 4021 with violin clip on the bridge. The whole project to 1 day to track and the following morning for percussion and tamborine overdubs. What a great reward to work with class A musicians that play it right the first time. The Radar was then packed up and moved to Transcontinental Studios for the mix
