Photo above of band house in Stevens Canyon, Santa
Clara County, Ca.- an old house used by Chinese migrant workers who mined
quicksilver in previous century. Landslide, Cody, Silver Ribbons and Harry
were originally recorded on a Scully 280 4 track recorder with tube Grommes
mixers and later remixed by Gary in 1983 at the Music Annex in Menlo Park.
Finally, in 2000, the remix tapes had to be baked to salvage the sounds
offered here. These songs never made the Hellbound Highway LP.

at left of The Church control room. Notice the 2 track mix down recorder is
a "Scampy" or "Scampex". Bruce Walford and Gary Faller
combined the workhorse Ampex 350 transport with Scully 280 electonics. Primitive
mixing with limited effects by todays standards picture on right of Doug Osbourne
checking out a guitar overdub. To help compensate for the lack of effects
gear, lots of beer was used.
